ST. JAMES UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

At St. James United Church of Christ, we know that inspiration opens hearts. An open heart is an open mind and an open mind is one that can practice tolerance, experience gratitude and feel the glory of God. It is our belief that God is present in all of us, but His active presence can only be felt through faith in Him. We are dedicated to the service of God and all his people, and our goal is to inspire you through the holiness of our dwelling and our services. We invite you to become a part of our growing congregation.

           Fun Facts about Mother’s Day

*One-quarter of yearly flower sales take place

on Mother’s Day!

*122 million phone calls are made to moms in

the US alone on Mother’s Day!

*In most world languages, the word for

mother starts with an “m”.

*Elizabeth Ann Buttle gave birth to her first

child on May 19th , 1956. She gave birth to

her last child on Nov 20th , 1997. The siblings

were born 41 years and 185 days apart – the

longest gap between babies ever recorded!!!

What a lucky mom!!!

*In the UK, Mother’s Day is often associated

with the Christian holiday Mothering Sunday. However, the two celebrations are not related!

*Mother’s Day is spelt with an apostrophe

(as opposed to ‘mothers’) because it is a day

for each person to celebrate his or her own

mother or mother figure.

*By the 1920s, many companies began selling

things to people for Mother’s Day. They were

making TONS of money off this new

celebration day. Anna Jarvis actually became

an activist AGAINST Mother’s Day because she believed the day should be about honoring

mothers, NOT making money.

Congratulations to our St. James UCC 2021

Graduates!  We wish you the best in your

future adventures ahead!

ABOUT ST. JAMES UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

Faith. Passion. Community. Worship. These are the cornerstones behind St. James United Church of Christ, and we approach each day with these in mind. Founded in 1948, our Church was established when the Congregational and Reformed Churches merged on the ideals of giving everyone a chance to learn, grow, and define their own religious identity through worship. Becoming a church member means joining a family who, each day, are devoted to expressing their love of God.

Welcome

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome in this United Church of Christ Congregation as you are, for who you are.  As followers of Christ, we are compelled to seek reconciliation and wholeness in a world that is all too often an unloving place.  Therefore, whether you are a believer, a doubter, or a seeker; whatever your country of origin; whether you are gay, straight, or in-between; in Christ’s love, we welcome you, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we can work together to usher in Gods Reign of justice, peace, and mercy.
